The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group was first created by West Lavington Parish Council in January 2012.The Group membership has been invited from the widest cross-section of the community as practicable, as listed below.
The Terms of Reference for the Group, and its structure, are also below.
The Parish Council hears an update report from the Chairman of the Steering Group at each of its monthly meetings, providing challenge and scrutiny of work in progress. Key ‘gateway’ stages of the planning process are brought for final decision, acknowledging the democratic accountability of the Council and its role as lead ‘nominated body’.
The Steering Group is made up of a number of Parish Councillors and volunteers. A small Core Group has also been created from within the Steering Group to lead the basic administration of the programme and to ensure the smooth running of the Steering Group’s business.
Minutes of the Steering Group are available on the tab on the right hand side of the page.
Links to Wiltshire Council are maintained through liaison with a Link Officer, nominated from its Spatial Planning team.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLANNING AREA - DESIGNATION
Before detailed work could begin, the Parish of West Lavington needed to be formally designated as a 'Neighbourhood Planning Area' by Wiltshire Council. You can see the Designation application, and the decision by Wiltshire Council below:
To supplement the annual budget requirement within its own finances the Parish Council has sought external grant funding support. The Council has been successful in receiving grant funding from central Government. The Grant has been awarded by the Supporting Communities in Neighbourhood Planning Programme led on behalf of the Government by Locality.
