Many thanks to all who have purchased local history books. This is producing a very handy income for the Youth Club.

We have several history projects on the go at the moment and further publications are planned throughout 2014 and 2015.

Lavington Memories Project

I have for some time been meaning to chat with some of our older residents, to talk about what life was like in the village before and during the last war. If you grew up here, and have reached a certain age, and would like to contribute, please contact me, and I will arrange to come and see you for a cup of tea and a talk about old times! Mike May and Ruth Doman will be helping with this project.

A Physical History of West Lavington

Mike May is heading research into the layout of the village, including the roads and cottages, many of which have disappeared. Parts of the village have been lost, parts were burnt down, and with one or two exceptions there is little evidence of buildings more than two or three hundred years old. We hope to publish these findings this year.
Many thanks for your support.

Do You Remember Miss Ross?

I am hoping to publish this year a collection of school photographs compiled by Miss Ross and now owned by Ben Hartley who has kindly given permission for me to do this, with all profits going to the youth club.

Miss Ross was a teacher at the Infants School in West Lavington from about 1918 to 1968. She taught several generations of West Lavington children.

I thought it would be good to add some of your memories of Miss Ross in the front of the book. So do you remember her? What can you tell me about her? How did she influence you? Do you have any tales or anecdotes about her?

If you can help, please either e-mail me your stories, or phone me if that easier.

Many thanks for your help.
